Mina

We were provided: Bed, Pillow, Pillow case, bed sheet, blanket, eye mask, face mask, ear plugs, umbrella, portable prayer mat, dental kit, shaving kit, sanitizer, digital counter, and soap

Alhamdulilah Mina was well organized. They had programs for the men after every prayer, food was readily available, and water & juice were available around the clock. Showers with Toilets were plenty and wudu area was available except for the long lines before prayer and after meals.

  1. Indeed, Mina was quite organized and the accommodations were great! I really enjoyed spending time with my hotel roommates (we managed to get adjacent beds and continued sticking together Alhumdulillah) and getting to know our neighbors. The long bathroom and wudu lines around prayer times were expected, especially within the hour.

The only tough challenge was unfortunately the ACs and fans stopped working within 30 minutes upon our arrival at camp #52 around 730am and didn’t resume til duhur prayer around 1230. This impacted most of the camp, including women. It got very hot within and outside the camp (I think temperatures peaked around 110F) which made it difficult to focus on anything and it didn’t sufficiently cool down til asr time. Alhumdulillah the comradery and patience of the first day of hajj was exemplary during this test and we realized us Americans had the good fortune of having ACs and good accommodations to begin with (I heard from a Pakistani relative they didn’t have ACs).

Tip: For a light sleeper like me, an excellent eyemask and earplugs are absolutely crucial to getting any sleep. I fortunately already had great ear plugs which blocked even someone snoring next to me.

Tip for Mina and Arafat: the best time to use bathrooms to avoid any lines is when buses begin leaving
